What's Measured

Testosterone (Total): Measures the total amount of testosterone, vital for muscle growth, fat metabolism, and overall energy.

Testosterone (Free, Calculated): This test calculates the amount of unbound, or "free," testosterone in your system, which is available for your body to use.

Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG): Measures the level of SHBG, a protein that binds to sex hormones, including testosterone.

Free Androgen Index Calculated (FAI-Cal): Based on total testosterone and SHBG levels, FAI-Cal indicates the availability of free androgens in the system.

Estradiol: Monitors the level of estradiol, an essential form of estrogen that can affect mood, libido, and more.

Prolactin: Measures levels of prolactin hormone, which can affect various bodily functions, including metabolism and the immune response.

Cortisol: Assesses your stress levels by measuring the cortisol hormone.

Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA): Checks for the level of PSA, which can indicate prostate health.

Albumin: Measures levels of albumin, a protein that can affect free testosterone calculation.

When to Test

Regular Health Check: Especially beneficial for men over 40, or those experiencing symptoms related to hormones, stress, or prostate health.

Experiencing Symptoms: Such as fatigue, low libido, weight gain, or urinary issues.

Doctor's Recommendation: If advised by a healthcare professional for comprehensive men's health screening.

Special Instructions: Your test results might be affected if you have taken anabolic steroids, steroid-based medications, or hormone treatments in the last 3-6 months. The use of steroid creams within the past week can also affect the test's accuracy.

Biotin (Vitamin B7) supplements can interfere with the results. It's advised to wait for at least 8 hours after your last Biotin dose before collecting your sample.

Symptoms

Experiencing reduced muscle mass, decreased energy, and sexual dysfunction could be a sign of low total testosterone levels, a crucial hormone for male health and vitality.

Symptoms like mood swings, altered libido, and changes in body composition might indicate an imbalance in free testosterone, the unbound form of this vital hormone.

Feelings of fatigue, muscle weakness, and sexual health concerns could point to high levels of Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG), which affects testosterone availability.

Decreased muscle strength and altered sexual health, accompanied by mood changes, can suggest an imbalance in the Free Androgen Index (FAI-Cal), reflecting the available androgens in the system.

Mood fluctuations, weight changes, and issues with libido and bone health may be symptoms related to estradiol levels, an essential estrogen form.

Reduced libido, infertility, and unwanted breast tissue growth in men are potential symptoms of elevated prolactin levels, impacting various bodily functions.

Weight gain, sleep disturbances, chronic fatigue, and increased stress response could be indicative of cortisol imbalance, a hormone associated with stress.

An increase in the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) level can be a warning sign, potentially indicating prostate health issues, including inflammation or cancer.

Low albumin levels might manifest through broader symptoms like impacts on metabolic health, potentially affecting free testosterone levels and indicating liver or kidney problems.
